CITA-A is an organic unit within the University of The Azores (UA). It carries out research on Agricultural Science, mainly oriented towards biodiversity, sustainability, applied climatology, food science and bioactivity of agricultural products.
CITA-A has four sections:
1 - Agricultural and Animal Science
2 - Food Science and Technology
3 - Study Center for Climate, Meteorology and Global Changes
4 - Azorean Biodiversity Group – Macroecology and Environmental Education in Islands
The work within each section is coordinated by a section director. Sections meet regularly to discuss current research and formulate new research proposals. The planning and approval of research lines and objectives is carried out by the CITA-A’s own Scientific Council (SC), in which all permanent members of the research teams that hold a PhD take part. CITA-A also has its own Secretary Office, which is in charge of all logistic issues and serves as a liaison office for the administrative matters. CITA-A depends on the Administration of UA for all financial matters and other administrative aspects
