My ongoing research focuses on the study of the biodiversity of lava
tube bacteria and the ability of these bacteria to produce antibiotic
compounds. I am interested in microbiology in general but particularly
in microbes with that properties that make them useful to fight
diseases, e.g. as antagonists to plant diseases, as opposed to
chemical treatments, for a more sustainable agriculture.
