Profile:
José Baptista is an honorary member of the Technological Science and Development Department (DCTD), retired senior researcher and a coordinator of the Technological Food Science Section (DCTD), with a Ph.D. in Analytical Chemistry with a specialization in Analytical Biochemistry. He performs research in the chemistry of natural products, and in the technology and toxicology of food science fields. Particularly, the research is focused on the extraction, separation and identification of secondary metabolites from plants and marine organisms from Azores. He has supervised several academic studies (Theses and research projects ) and currently is co-supervising students of the Food Technology and Safety master degree and Ph.D. students from 3º cycle of Biology. He also collaborates in the interface of the University Industry developing collaboration protocols with agri-food regional companies.
